More than 500 years ago, the cross was planted on the coast of Florida by Spanish missionaries. During Easter Week, pilgrims from St. Thomas More and all over the USA follow their path during a 5-day pilgrimage.

The early heroic martyrs endured deplorable conditions bringing the Faith to native peoples and ministering to settlers. Later on, hundreds of Indians were persecuted and martyred for the Catholic Faith in our land of Florida. Modern-day Catholics may not face this death of the body, but the irreligious atmosphere in the United States cries for evangelization. Our pilgrims walk the path of the martyrs from St. Thomas More Church in Sanford, Florida, to the first Shrine in honor of Our Lady in St. Augustine, the oldest known site of the First Mass in North America.
An Authentic Pilgrimage
Over 5 days, via walking and canoeing, and traversing land, swamp, and ocean beach, the pilgrims made their way to the Mission Nombre de Dios at St. Augustine for the Sunday Mass, on April 24, 2022.
Accommodations were made for those who could only meet for part of the way, or even just visit the campsites in the evening to bring fellowship to the pilgrims.
