Lent is the time we are meant to deepen our love and wonder at the mystery of the Redemption. It is during the Holy Week in particular that the Church invites us to contemplate this great mystery re-actualized for us in the Sacred Liturgy.

Father Matthew, O.S.B. was born in Laveen, Arizona. He studied Philosophy at St. Thomas Aquinas Seminary and finished his priestly studies of theology at St. Pius X Seminary in Econe, Switzerland. He was ordained in 1993. Father is currently a member of the Order of St. Benedict and is assigned to the Seminary as a professor of Latin, Liturgy, and Spanish.

As a Benedictine monk, the Liturgy is his life. The motto of the Benedictine Order is Ora et Labora —pray and work.
