Saturday, September 11th, at 8:30 am, Solemn Mass of Requiem
On September 4th, the first Saturday of the month, Fr. Dominique Bourmaud has given up his soul to God. Hospitalized due to COVID, he was able to receive the last rites on August 12. He fought 33 days against the disease and its complications on his hospital bed.
Fr. Bourmaud was in the 63rd year of his life and had just celebrated 40 years of priesthood.
He was born in France and grew up in the Vendée region. He joined the seminary at a young age and was ordained a priest with a special dispense for his young age by Archbishop Lefebvre on June 29, 1981.
He was appointed to Madrid (Spain) where he worked until 1983. He then became a professor at the US seminary in Ridgefield, CT, and later in Winona, MN. In 1993, he returned to France for a few months and was soon entrusted again with a position as a seminary professor in the SSPX seminary, first in La Reja (Argentina), from 1994 to 1997, then in Goulburn (Australia), until 2009.
He returned to the United States, where he was a long-time collaborator in Kansas City, MO, serving Texas every weekend and became prior of Saint Louis, MO, in 2018, before collaborating again in the apostolate of the priory of Kansas City since 2020.
An ardent preacher of the 30-day retreats of St. Ignatius, both in Spanish and English, Fr. Bourmaud is also the author of numerous articles in Angelus Magazine. In 2006, he wrote One Hundred Years of Modernism, a Genealogy of the Principles of the Second Vatican Council, published by Angelus Press.
