SSPX Christmas Message: Fr. Wegner, US District Superior

Source: District of the USA

A very Merry and Blessed Christmas to you from the priests of the Society of St. Pius X! May God bless you and your family with many blessings and graces this season and into the new year!

Dear Friends,

To do what man could not do - to destroy sin and to restore our relationship with God, the most merciful Father so loveth the world as to give his only-begotten Son for the salvation of His creature.  The Word, splendor of the Father, and figure of His substance became flesh that we may once again be called, and really become, the children of God.

If Jesus came to sanctify every man, if it is God’s will that all should be saints, then sanctity cannot consist of extraordinary gifts of nature and grace; it must consist of something that all souls of goodwill, even the simplest and most humble can attain.  God’s mysterious and wonderful assistance manifests itself during this wonderful celebration of Christmas.

St. Alphonsus tells us,

I think that God must have said to Himself, ‘Man does not love Me, because he does not see Me.  I will show Myself to him and thus make him love Me.’

God’s love for man was very great, and had been great from all eternity but this love had not yet become visible.  Then, it really appeared.  The Son of God let Himself be seen as a little child in a stable, lying in a little stall.

The priests of the US District wish you a Merry Christmas, assure you of their prayers, express their sincere gratitude for the support you have given over this past year, and promise to continue their priestly work for the salvation of your souls.
